RDA Hunter welcomes the State Government’s 2015-16 budget commitments which include:

– $103 million to Newcastle light rail
– $227 million to upgrade and repair Hunter roads, including $19.5 million to continue construction of the eastbound New England Highway overpass of the Maitland railway station roundabout.
– $9.9 million to continue planning and site preparation for the new Maitland Hospital and $1.7 million to commence stage two of the Muswellbrook Hospital redevelopment.
– $4.3 million to continue the redevelopment of John Hunter Children’s Hospital Paediatric Intensive Care Unit and $1 million to continue the John Hunter Children’s Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
– $9.35 million to continue the $20 million upgrade of Rutherford High School while also continuing refurbishment works to the Cooks Hill Campus Newcastle High School Annex.
– $2.65 million to complete work on a new $3.6 million fire station at Maryland and $1.45 million to complete work a new $4.6 million fire station at Lambton.
– $5 million for the repair and maintenance of the Hunter Valley Flood Mitigation Scheme.
– $26 million has been committed from the Hunter Infrastructure and Investment Fund to local infrastructure projects, including more than $12 million towards the University of Newcastle’s New Space project.
