RDA HUNTER COLLABORATES TO HELP GROW AND SUSTAIN THE HUNTER’S ECONOMY FOR THE FUTURE

RDA Hunter leads and facilitates collaborations between industry, education, research and government to help deliver a strong local economy, investment, jobs growth and workforce development in the Hunter region on Australia’s east coast (see maps below).

As part of its future-focused charter to improve the region’s international competitiveness – which is dependent on a skilled workforce – RDA Hunter partners industry, schools, VET and university sector providers to develop a cohort of future employees that have technical and enterprise skills. To meet industry needs, our programs ensure participants are familiar with industrial workplaces and are motivated to pursue skilled careers. RDA Hunter’s skilled workforce programs are industry led, designed to deliver positive employment outcomes for Hunter Region students and employers.

RDA Hunter supports economic development opportunities that leverage the private and public sector within the area as well as connecting the Hunter with industry sectors, international trade partners, financial markets, regional entrepreneurs and business leaders to attract investors to grow local jobs in the region. RDA Hunter is part of an Australia-wide network of RDAs.

THE RDA NETWORK

Who we are

Regional Development Australia (RDA) is a national network of 52 committees made up of local leaders who work with all levels of government, business and community groups to support the development of their regions. RDA members work to actively grow strong and confident economies in their regions that harness their competitive advantages, seize on economic opportunity and attract investment. They are comprised of local leaders with broad and diverse skills and experience, as well as demonstrated networks within their region. RDA members are individuals who understand the challenges, opportunities and priorities within their local communities.

This Australian Government initiative brings together all levels of government to support the development of regional Australia. It is funded by the Australian Government and by state, territory and local government sin some jurisdictions outside of New South Wales. It is administered by the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications.

What we do

Regional Development Australia (RDA) committee members are local people developing local solutions to local issues. We build partnerships to develop strategies and deliver sustainable infrastructure and services to our region. We also work with each other to identify issues that cross regions.

As the regional development voice of their communities, RDA committees:
– consult and engage with industry, businesses and communities
– promote and participate in regional programs and initiatives
– provide information and advice on their region to all levels of government, and
– support informed regional economic development.

RDA Committees operate under a ministerial charter which focuses on growing strong and confident regional economies that harness their competitive advantages and drive economic growth.
