FlyPelican announced that Flights between Newcastle Airport and Canberra will commence on Monday 1st June and flights between Newcastle and Sydney will start from Thursday 11th June.

FlyPelican is a Newcastle based independent regional airline that operates a fleet of 19 seat, pressurised British Aerospace Jetstream 32 aircraft.

C.E.O. of FlyPelican, Paul Graham said:
“The necessary approvals to start scheduled flights for the airline had been long awaited and he was thrilled that the first flight was now less than one week away .FlyPelican is extremely pleased to be providing this important service and explained that Newcastle / Canberra has been without an air service for over 16 months and that we are looking forward to reinstating this critical link. Current driving times can be as much as five or six hours one way.

Our flights will have you at your destination in just over an hour with the option of returning home same day after a full day of business or pleasure. This service is in high demand especially with the RAAF base located at Williamtown, Newcastle and also with public servants commuting and working in Canberra. The service has a proven history and we are confident that it will be well supported and prosper”.

Early morning and evening daily services for both city pairs are on a schedule that is convenient for business travellers wanting to make day-return trips and Sunday flights are also scheduled. FlyPelican will be providing over 22,000 seats per annum on each of its new routes. One-way web fares for Newcastle – Canberra start from $149 one-way and $298 return and Newcastle – Sydney fares from $89 and $178 return. (prices quoted inclusive of taxes).
