Building on the tremendous success of RDA Hunter’s ME Program in Hunter high schools, a number of the Hunter’s primary schools are now benefiting from the ME Program’s technologies.

ME Program Manager, Ashley Cox has begun working with local companies to engage students from as young as eight in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Known as the Mini ME Program, demonstrations are conducted in Hunter primary schools and utilise technologies such as 3D Printing, Quadrocopters and Robotics.

Support from local industry partners ensures that students can understand the link between these engaging technologies and the STEM subjects they study at school.

During April Mr Cox addressed the ‘Junior Scientists’ at Islington Public School about Technology in Science. He demonstrated a robot with multiple capabilities and a quadrocopter.

“The students were enthralled and mesmorised with the technology. The Junior Scientists hope to be doing more work with robots in Term 2,” said Amanda Burrows, Facilitator of Learning (Specialist Sustainability Educator)
