Fluffy Cloud Media is an animation production company with extensive experience in producing animated films and campaigns. The Fluffy Cloud team consists of internationally recognised award-winning animators Lisa Marriott and Stig Bergqvist who have worked in LA and Europe, and are now located in Newcastle, Australia.
The company’s goal is to utilise their expertise to work for local, national and international clients, while collaborating with and developing local talent. Lisa and Stig hope they can add something to the region and help attract work and further interest to the Hunter. They want to be part of bringing Newcastle to the forefront as a city known for its design and creative industries.
Lisa and Stig decided to settle in Newcastle, NSW from Stockholm, Sweden, because of its University and the close proximity to the Sydney market. Lisa grew up in the region and went to art school in Sydney.
“We love it here, not only for the beaches and the lifestyle but also because it is an area in transition and growth with lots of interesting people.”
Asked about the Hunter’s digital infrastructure and how it impacts their business Lisa and Stig said, “Having worked in Europe, where digital infrastructure is very sophisticated, better services in the Hunter would be advantageous to our business. It’s an important factor of being globally competitive in the creative industries.”
“Download speeds are not a problem it’s the upload speed, which is usually many times slower and that is the limiting factor when you run a business like ours. When we deliver final animated commercials to our clients, uploading huge uncompressed movie files is very time consuming and becomes a bottleneck.”
“Improved internet speed ultimately means that all digital businesses can be more competitive and offer a better service to their clients. Until speeds across Australia improve we continue to utilise the technology on offer in the Hunter and maintain our international clientele from this great location.”
