Under a new partnership between the Newcastle Jets A-League Women’s team and Regional Development Australia (RDA) Hunter announced this week, 250 female junior footballers will receive guidance from senior A-League players as well as career advice from Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) professionals.
Girls aged 13 to 17 years from selected Hunter clubs will have access to A-League stars who will share personal insights, football instruction and life lessons, and Hunter STEM professionals who will provide the girls with information about how STEM principles relate to the real-world: particularly football, health, physical strength, and mental resilience.
RDA Hunter’s Board welcomes the opportunity to deliver career-information programs for current players and looks forward to supporting the growth of professional football in the region.
In announcing the new partnership, RDA Hunter’s Chair, Mr John Turner, said, “RDA Hunter recognises the contribution sports and sporting teams make to the Hunter’s economy and we are pleased that this partnership will support the Newcastle Jets A-League Women’s team in the 2021/ 2022 season.
“This new partnership with the region’s premier women’s football club will help aspiring junior players succeed in their sporting endeavours and better understand Hunter-based career opportunities that could complement their professional playing careers.”
Newcastle Jets Executive Chairman Shane Mattiske said, “As a Club, we are proud to partner with RDA Hunter and to be able to provide support to members of our local community.
“The players are excited to help encourage and inspire our young footballers to achieve their goals, who maybe one day could pull on a Gold Jets jersey.”
The first RDA Hunter career seminar will be delivered to the Newcastle Jets girls academy in early January 2022.
