RDA Hunter welcomes Jobs for NSW announcement that it will create one million new jobs in NSW by 2036.

The State government has recently announced a raft of support programs under its $190 million Jobs for NSW Fund. The programs will:

• Help fast-growing, small-to-medium size companies access the funds they need to grow jobs through a $50 million loan guarantee program and a $3.5 million direct loan pilot program;
• Assist start-up companies to flourish by setting aside $10 million to grow the State’s network of incubators and accelerators, and $3 million in 2016-17 for direct grants to start-ups;
• Grow regional companies with a dedicated $30 million program; and
• Attract large and international companies to base their headquarters in NSW through use of a $30 million fund

“Our Smart Specialisation Strategy for the Hunter Region (S3) identifies seven areas of competitive strength that will deliver innovation driven growth and related high value-added jobs for the region’s future,” said RDA Hunter CEO, Mr Williams.

“We look forward to working with the Board of Jobs for NSW to prioritise projects within these seven areas that will build on our strengths, help nurture our global competitiveness to maintain the region’s position as NSW’s strongest regional economy.” Mr Williams continued.
