Learn about employing skilled overseas workers in the Hunter

Business owners and proprietors in the Hunter region will get the opportunity to learn more about employer-sponsored skilled work visa options, when immigration outreach officers visit the region later this month.

A spokesman from the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) said the seminar will provide Hunter region employers with an overview of their options, including information on the SkillSelect program.

SkillSelect is an online service that connects Australian employers with potential skilled migrants,” the spokesman said.

The service streamlines the pathway to permanent residence for people already working in Australia on temporary skilled 457 visas.”

Immigration outreach officers provide a range of information about employer-sponsored temporary or permanent skilled work visa options and the concessions available for regional applicants.

The seminar will also educate businesses about their responsibility to check that the workers they employ are allowed to work in Australia.

The information seminar will take place as follows:

Date: Tuesday, February 25

Time: 12.30pm to 1.45pm

Place: Hunter Trade and Investment Centre, Level 3, 251 Wharf Road, Newcastle.

The presentation is free, however, as places are limited, RSVP to
