RDA Hunter’s Hunter Strategic Defence Group is working to build the capacity and capability of Hunter industry to support Australia’s Defence force and leverage the opportunities that Defence investment in the Joint Strike Fighter project will bring the Hunter Region.
The location of the JSF at Williamtown will create opportunities in various aspects of maintenance, repair and logistics. The Hunter Strategic Defence Group is working to capture economic and employment outcomes for the Hunter and has identified three initial economic infrastructure projects. These include:
1. Duplication of Nelson Bay Road to Newcastle Airport
2. Second access to the Airport Business Park and Newcastle Airport via Cabbage Tree Road
3. The development of a Williamtown Aerospace Strategic Plan
