STEM-ships are scholarships offered by Training Services NSW and RDA Hunter’s ME Program for a 15 week pre-employment program that includes science, technology, engineering and maths skilling from Hunter TAFE.

The program includes:
– 15 weeks  completing a combination  of training and work placement (25 hours per week)
– 12 units of Competency with Hunter TAFE which will include the design, creation and promotion of a product utilising advanced technologies as well as experience in:
– Occupational Health and Safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace
– Competitive Systems and Practices
– Producing drawings to communicate ideas
– Producing computer aided drawings
– Making scale models
– Repairing basic electronic apparatus faults  by replacement of components
– Solving problems in dc circuits
– Using routine strategies for career planning
– Assembling, entering and verifying operating instructions in microprocessor equipped devices
– Applying a range of mathematical problem solving strategies
– An opportunity to work in some of the Hunter Region’s most innovative organisations
NB: Students will require an exemption from school for the duration of the program
