Coworking is a chance to work as an individual or team within a professional shared office space. It is a pooling of resources, expertise and industry under one roof. Sometimes that roof is over a multi-storey building, and sometimes it is a single floor, set up and fit out to suit a specific niche market.

Melanie Albert, CoWork Space Coordinator at Cessnock’s The CoWork Space says, “I recently read a phrase that sums it up wonderfully “CoWorking: a shared workspace with café culture”. The CoWork Space in Cessnock is creating just that.”

Melanie says she loves working from cafes. “Unfortunately, I’m a prolific people-watcher so my productivity takes a hit, which is why I set up The CoWork Space. Yes, it was a needed resource for my town of Cessnock, but mostly, I set it up because I needed it.

“After working from home for six months, I’d lost my connection with my work product, I had no separation between work and home, and I was struggling to maintain my motivation.”

Coworking spaces become valuable supplementary resources for businesses without office space, and as landing pads for businesses and services without local offices. The CoWork Space features a dedicated room for meeting clients, holding interviews and performing staff reviews. It’s the perfect space to gather your team for professional development and training, or an action day to plan the next project.

“People operating businesses from home benefit from a work environment away from home. A day or two here and there can boost productivity and clarify your goals. It can be a mental palette cleanser, an opportunity for a better work/life balance, or a chance to bounce off the productivity of others sharing the space.”

The CoWork Space offers new businesses time to build strong foundations and grow your business outside of the home office before taking the next step and signing onto a commercial lease.

Melanie said, “We’ve also proven a useful transitional space for existing businesses who have outgrown the home office or are moving to Cessnock and would like to trial a professional office workstyle. At present, we are hosting two Hunter Valley businesses who are waiting to move into commercial premises.”
