STEM Reactor Biotech kits were recently presented to RDA Hunter’s ME Program partner schools to help inspire Hunter students to study STEM based subjects and consider careers in fields including DNA analysis, genetic engineering and environmental micro-biology.

The STEM Reactor Biotech kits include lab-quality materials which teach students the latest techniques in biotechnology applications, such as cloning, gene transfer, and DNA profiling. Six kits will be delivered to Hunter high schools as part of the ME Program’s STEM grant program.

“We are very excited to be able to offer Hunter students access to the latest in bio-technology,” said RDA Hunter’s ME Program Director, Dr Scott Sleap.

“The career opportunities in and around bio-technology are very exciting and extremely varied. The technology and hands-on experiments available in the STEM Reactor kits are cutting-edge and utilize the exact same technology as is used in commercial labs and leading universities.”

“Our students are accessing materials and processes that are current, relevant and which will give them the skills they need for the real jobs of the future.” continued Dr Sleap.

“All I can hope is that our Biotechnology resources will give students a taste of how fascinating biology and chemistry can be so they take this excitement and respect for science through the rest of their lives.” said Ms Jeannette Tran, Managing Director.
