Mr Michael Johnsen, Member for Upper Hunter this week announced that the NSW Government is committing $92 million toward the Singleton Bypass project including $1.5 million this financial year to continue planning.

The Bypass of the New England Highway around Singleton was identified as one of 13 Hunter based priority projects in RDA Hunter’s 2013 Hunter Economic Infrastructure Plan (HEIP).

The HEIP presents some of the significant regional economic priorities supported by RDA Hunter.  This plan continues to guide government funding decisions for Hunter infrastructure projects.

The Hunter Economic Infrastructure Plan (HEIP) was developed by RDA Hunter and Infrastructure NSW and has received support from State and Federal government ministers and advisory bodies.

It details the business case for prioritised infrastructure projects that have been identified through consultation and independently assessed for the economic value they will create.

“We are very pleased that the State Government has committed to funding this important project for Singleton and the Hunter region. It reinforces the importance of strategic corridors for the movement of people, freight and goods and the reduction of impacts on communities along the Hunter’s export supply chain.” said RDA Hunter CEO Todd Williams.

“To date our Hunter Economic Infrastructure Plan has attracted funding commitments of over $856million for regional infrastructure projects.” continued Mr Williams.
