RDA Hunter last week attended the national conference for the Regional Development Australia network held in Albany WA. The event was attended by 110 representatives from RDAs Australia wide as well as ministerial staff and Federal Government representatives.

Minister Nash reinforced the Government’s focus on regions and the value they contribute nationally. She said that the Government is committed to making regions the best they can be and reiterated funding packages that facilitate regional growth.

The Sustainable Economic Growth for Regional Australia (SEGRA) conference was also held in Albany last week. The annual conference, which this year was attended by close to 400 people, provides a unique opportunity for all sections of the Australian community to explore the key issues affecting regional, rural and remote Australia and be part of providing positive sustainable outcomes to ensure future prosperity. It featured keynote speakers Idris Mootee from Ideas Couture, Anthony Bertini from Australian Omega Oils and Western Australia’s Chief Scientist, Professor Peter Klinkin.

The conference also spotlighted economic development issues including 21st Century organisations, regional labour markets and opportunities for innovation and technology advancement in regions.
